Pirate Ghost of the Barbary Coast (works with LeapPad & Leapster Explorer) (Toy) Like another reviewer, we have most of the Leapster Explorer games. All have been winners, except this. It is the most confusing, un-user friendly game of the collection. Though it's aged 4-7, my adult sons and I couldn't figure out many of the games. It sets you up with a small picture and suggests looking for items, yet they don't appear unless you tap somewhere unrelated to the item. Tap on the fence post and get a hamburger? Where is the cause and effect? Additionally, they want you to collect a set of suspects yet at this age group, solving a crime is an advanced concept. Additionally, clicking on each character makes them spew one catch phrase that is irrelevant to the search. We still can't figure out what the point of the game is. If you hear Shaggy say "Zoinks" too many times, you may wish to back over the game with your car. Truly, I'm going to ask the company to replace...it has no plot, no interactions that lead to a successful gaming... Pirate Ghost of the Barbary Coast (works with LeapPad & Leapster Explorer) (Toy) My four year old has nearly all of the leapster games for his age range and this one is the first one I have been truly disappointed in. The game involves searching for puzzles and clues by tapping on areas of a picture. Some of the clues are quite difficult for my son to find (or maybe the area you need to tap is too specific/small). Some of the little games are a bit difficult for him as well, so I would recommend waiting on this game if you are thinking of purchasing it for a 4 year old. I would guess it is better suited for 5-7 year olds. Either way, the overall design and polish of this game just isn't as good as other leapster games we own. I wouldn't recommend it to others but did give it two stars since my son seems to enjoy it (with some help). If you are just starting your leapster library or only plan on having a few games, skip this one and go with Penguins of Madagascar or Mr. Pencil instead. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: My 3 year old loves this game, By jessie (wyoming) - See all my reviews = Durability: = Fun: = Educational: This review is from: LeapFrog Explorer Learning Game: Scooby-Doo! Pirate Ghost of the Barbary Coast (works with LeapPad & Leapster Explorer) (Toy) I have a 3 year old boy, and we bought him this scooby-doo game for the leapster explorer he got for christmas, after playing this for a little while he soon started telling me all sorts of things about all the different food groups! I give this game an overall 4 stars UP SIDE-- my little guy has had alot of fun playing this game, he beat just over 4 of the levels then littler brother accidentally deleted them, but he started right over again at the beginning just as excited as he was the first time he started DOWN SIDE-- compared to some of the other games avaliable this one is a bit slower, more puzzle style no actual moving or live action, and some of the puzzles are kinda of hard to find, so ya he does have to ask for my help from time to time, but as for the puzzles being hard, once we sat down and walked through how to do them togther he could do most all of them on his own after that. we cant really expect children at this age...
